Climbing without climbing

Today there was an organized event for kids to try climbing. Greta did not want to climb, but it was fun to watch other kids though. But it was fun to use the knife of the wooden sticks and to carve her name on it.

We also had a dessert there, since I made some almond cake and blueberry muffins. Enjoyed the forest and the fresh air before sending Greta to bed.

… and then I had to take the second piece :-)

Raspberry + blueberry

Greta has been asking me to make blueberry jan for almost a week now, so today it had to be. But am think blueberries taste better together with raspberries, therefore I made 50/50. Incredibly good result :-)

Breakfast in the garden

When you don't like anything in the fridge for breakfast, you go outside and pick some raspberries and an apple - breakfast ready. Not many raspberries left though.

This is the herbs garden - basil, oregano, different kinds of mint, dill, thyme, while rucula refused to grow.

The tomatoes finally started getting some color.

And the sweat peas were smart enough to hand on the lemon tree for some support :-)

Have a great Monday.

Blue sky Sunday

Yet another sunny weekend! The day started great with Greta visiting me in the bed and kissing the baby belly. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. Our garden smiles to us with its almost autumn fruit, including this sweet apples.

Later we drove to the town to participate in the triathlon, many kids were there and Greta had fun.

The first part - swimming in the pool.

Bycicle.

And running! As you can see, I was just taking pictures today, not running :-)

A happy finisher:

Later we did some grocery shopping and had a playdate with our old neighbours. The girls had fun with play-dough, watermelon, playing ball and soap bubbles.
Even later while Greta were trying all my scrapbooking punchers, I were sewing a princess crown for her (using this tutorial). At first, Greta was disappointed since we did not have pink felt, but she likes the final result and is wearing the crown proudly all the time. I am also content with the result.

Did you have a good weekend?

The froggy skirt

A new skirt for Greta, sewn this morning. She likes it though refused to take it on for the photoshoot. Of course, having the Tinkerbell dress on, what did I expect? :-)

Squash cake

Can you imagine a squash cake to be so delicious? Really, try this recipe. Santiago still does not know it was a squash cake, and even he liked it, even though he is not the cake person. I am looking forward for tomorrow for Greta to try it, she had to go to bed before it was finished. The topping has lime juice, and it contrasts so well with the insides of the cake.

Striped sweater

Once again I am too bad with sizes. The baby sweater is probably good enough for Greta, I will check this evening. Nøstebarn-sweater in holst supersoft yarn (60 g total).

Polka dot blouse

While Greta is in the kindergarten, I made a blouse for her. She was not in the best mood this morning, so this I hope will make her evening better. Pattern from spring 2008 Ottobre.

Kingergarten

Sometimes I get some cute pictures of Greta from the kindergarten :-)

Bread

I like to bake bread (sometimes), especially when it involves mixing different types of flour. Mmmm, it smells deliciuos. This is not a no knead bread, but equally good. Test it you too, the recipe here.

The Christmas mouse (in august)

Greta was recently going through my sewing books and found a mouse she desperately wanted. It is a Christmas mouse from "Jul med tildas venner", but it does not matter. We also had some accidents while I was sewing. The mouse was finished, but not the dress, so Greta took the mouse and my permanent sketch marker and painted some details on her arms and her body. Hopefully, I managed to wash them away, but the mouse does not look pretty enough now. I hope Greta will like to see it finished this evening.

Weekend, weekend

I love the Norwegian summer, besause it is so unpredictable. You can never say: "Oh no, it is raining cats and dogs, the whole weekend will be boring rain". Because even if it really looks like this, the day after the sun comes out and gives you a nice surprise of clear sky and a wonderful day of sea and sun. Even if the day after it is pouring down again. Who cares, we had a good summery weekend and even got tanned a bit.

Greta got so excited about the whole day that she fell asleep in the boat on our way back. Hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed these last (or not?) summer days wherever you are.

The baby whale

It is usually so easy to sew something for Greta, but this time I made somrthing for the baby. Since it is still not known whether it is a boy or a girl, I tried to make it pretty neutral. Isn't it nice?
