Selfportraits

of Samuel and me. We were shooting some pictures of us this morning, but now it is less and less light every day, hard to take good pictures.

Then we walked to the post office and the grocery shop to buy some fruit for my lazy lunch.

And some hours later when we picked Greta from the kindergarten it was magical outside. Everything was white and fluffy.

And now that daddy is away at Christmas party with our colleagues from work, we spent a quiet evening at home, took more selfportraits with the phone camera, and the kids were off to sleep. I will just continue enjoying my evening. Have a good weekend!

Icelandic sweater

This time the sweater is correct size. Yes, don't laugh, it is NOT big for Samuel. It is just made in size 1 year, so Samuel still has 9 months to grow :-) It is supposed to be in four colours, but I had only three. And I had very littly black at the end, so orange it was.

This time of year

When you make lists of people you want to send Christmas card to, hoping not to forget anybody. Maybe I should make one list and use it year after year?

Weekend

Mostly at home with small exceptions. By the way, yesterday Greta and I had a girls only trip to the cinema while our boys were at home. Samuel tried bottlefeeding with my breastmilk, and it went smoothly. Yay! Now I think I will need a hairdresser appointment next weekend and will not be worried for them. As for today, it was quiet, warm, still not looking like winter. We are planning our next months, many interesting things are on our agenda, and we are looking forward. We already have something to look forward for in december, in january, and in april, at least. We will see if there will be something more.
As strange as it seems, we already started preparing for Christmas. Greta found the cookie tins I bought for Christmas and some new Christmas tree baubles. I found the advent calender that Greta is going to get this time, packed some of the presents for her and Greta has a present for Samuel. We packed it, too.
Samuel is discovering how exciting it is to hold a rattle, continues being a sweet boy in all possible ways and loves Greta. He tested out the big bathtub together with me today, and snow sleeps after a long day.

Hope you had a good one, too!

Homemade vanilla extract

Since we necer drink vodka we get sometimes get as a present, this year I decided to make something useful out of it. Homemade vanilla extract.

This will be a present for many this Christmas, so I used up the whole bottle.
The recipe is pretty simple:
Vodka
Vanilla beans
Cut vanilla beans in 2-3 cm chunks, divide between containers with vodka. Shake every day for a month (at least).

The backcarry

Today I realized how much I missed this: you wrap you baby good on your back, turn on some lovely music and head to the kitchen - to cook.

You make some cookies. This recipe works great.

Half an hour later you baby is still snuggled on your back and you can eat some of your cookies. :-)

And when he wakes up, he makes you even happier with his smiles.

 Have a great weekend!

Back home

The kids and I spent the last two weeks in the south of France, where we enjoyed the last summer days this year. We are back now to our everyday life, home and kindergarten. Greta is happy to play again with her toys and looking forward to see her friends tomorrow.
