Friday after operation

I was pretty eager to go to work today, but I am glad I did not. Instead I worked at home, at my own tempo, with painkillers, resting from time to time.
1. don't be surprised to see pieces of clutches on half of my pictures now
2. tried a new recipe, and it was quite successful. Quinoa and parmesan muffins
3. Greta being nice to my leg
4. Monster zucchini - the only one successful gardening project this year. There are still lots of them out there. But they invaded my cucumbers, so I should be smarter next year.

Something new for me

For those who are worrying about me, I am fine now. The achilles tendon was operated today and now I have a nice plaster on my right leg. It is pretty funny, because I just received a pair of skinny jeans I ordered last week to replace all of my old jeans with holes on the knees. But I can't try them on.
Coincidence or not, on the jeans that I was going to donate (because of the hole on the right knee) are pretty wide, and cutting right over the hole on the knee I now have a pretty great solution while I have the plaster. I will show you sometime.
Meanwhile, don't worry, I am fine. Let the recovery begin.

P.S. The title of this post means just that now I will have a pretty strange period of my life, where I am really really depend on a lot of help. I am not just saying I can not run or play tennis, I can not walk and I can not carry things in my hands since I am using crutches. So I really, really need to be patient.

Wish me good luck tomorrow

Katherine pullover

It has been a while since I showed my knitting. Many reasons why not. Basically, I was working on a long project, Katherine pullover.
But, as it always happens to me, I chose the wrong yarn and the wrong needle size. And, probably, the wrong size of the pattern. Anyway, here was my huge pullover finished, the size of... I don't know. I really do know anybody needing such a big pullover, so no good for a Christmas present either.
Solution: what I usually do when I end up with a huge sweater? Shrink it in the washing machine.
Now I have a very very very warm pullover as soft as your cat might be, of wool and alpaca. For really cold days.

Our joyful Monfay

For those who worry about Greta's skin infection: she is much much better, you can not even notice if from not so close. The legs are nice and smooth, no antibiotics anymore, just a cream until thursday when we have another check up. She will be even better soon. I am am working on a natural cure for the remaining molluscus that we will still have after the rest is cured. Research going on and I start feeling confident about it.
Meanwhile we are enjoying our last summer days feeding ducks in the ricer and eating the rest of blueberries.

A weekend in the mountains

Last weekend we went to Vrådal, a nice place in the mountain.
Greta has a skin infection, so we spent most of the time trying to feed her her medication, getting her dressed and so on. The rest of the time we tried to have her happy in the playgrounds.

This is the lowest part of the mountain, you see that up there it is just fog.

This is how the fog looked like on the top, where we lived.

But the day after, the weather was just spactacular, it was a pity we did not take a bath.

A weekend trip

This weekend we had a new experience. We took a cruise boat to Denmark and back. That was a special cruise for kids, mostly, with the pirate show and so on. I honestly thought Greta was too young for that, besides that I never hace the opportunity to know how good her Norwegian is. Turns out, her Norwegian is great, she understood the whole theater part.
This is when we leave Oslo. The sunset.

And arriving to Fredrikshavn, Denmark.

We had less than two hours in Fredrikshavn, enough for a nice walk in the town.

Greta doing "art":

Back on the boat. The best part was the weather, shining sun all the time, incredibly good to be outside.

Have a great week!
